Mango Hippie Chick

My Mango Hippie Chick Smoothie was born out of my serious love for Kombucha. I became a kombucha lover many years ago when my good friend Laurie, owner of Basimo Beach Cafe in Clearwater Beach Florida taught me to make my own.

Kombucha is an ancient beverage with a long history originating over 2,000 years ago in the far east. Even today, Kombucha is considered to be an excellent option for detoxifying the body, aiding in digestion, and boosting the immune system. My biggest motivation for drinking this effervescent goodness, besides the taste, is the benefits it offers in gut health.

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at making your own Kombucha you can find my recipe with easy directions here. Kombucha isn’t just for drinking. There are a long list of delicious recipes you can make with Kombucha as well.  Here are two of my favorites.  Kombucha Mushrooms, and Kombucha Dreamsicles.  Or have fun and get creative by designing your favorite kombucha smoothie using your choice of frozen fruit and your favorite flavor of kombucha.

Cheers to good health!

Haha! Check out my puppy, Kingston, faithfully watching my photos shoot while I get just the right angle. I have to say, no one shows quite as much support for the endless hours I spend in the kitchen developing new recipe ideas than this little guy does. Always an audience, even though he never gets to enjoy the end results. XO Kingston –
