  1. Rinse and soak the rice in a small bowl for 10 minutes before cooking.
  2. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onions 3 to 5 minutes or until translucent.
  3. Add the vegetables and sauté 5 minutes.
  4. Add the salt, rice, and water. Increase the heat to high and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover and let simmer 30 minutes or until rice is tender. Sprinkle the Pulau with turmeric and lightly fluff with a fork to blend into the rice.
  6. Transfer the Pulau to a serving plate, top with cashews and a few peppercorns, serve warm.
Recipe Notes

Suggestions:

  • Always rinse basmati rice 2-3 times before soaking to remove any debris.
