Culinary Butterfly is a proud supporter of Operation Underground Railroad.
As a person with a sincere love for people around the world, my passion for those in every corner of the globe runs much deeper than the food that represents their culture. Protecting children, the most vulnerable among us, makes my heart overflow with compassion.
A few years ago, I discovered Tim Ballard’s organization, O.U.R. Operation Underground Railroad. An incredible organization dedicated to rescuing children in the sex slave trade. O.U.R.’s mission is to shine a light for the world on the global epidemic of child sex trafficking, and in doing so rescue children from slavery and assist law enforcement in the prosecution of trafficking offenders. They place rescued children in safe havens providing appropriate recovery aftercare. After learning of the great work this organization does, it compelled my soul to support their efforts. • Every 30 seconds, a child is sold as a sex slave.

Children who are caught in sex trafficking are  lured, groomed, manipulated, and coerced. Often they don’t even realize what’s happening to them and do not see that there is hope for a better future. Despite the harsh statistics, rescue and recovery are possible. From the moment they’re rescued, these children enter recovery. These organizations specialize in rehabilitating children from victims to success stories. Once victims are rescued, a comprehensive process involving justice for the perpetrators and recovery and rehabilitation for the survivors begins. Since being founded in 2013, O.U.R. has gathered the world’s experts in extraction operations and in anti-child trafficking efforts to bring an end to child slavery. O.U.R.’s Underground Jump Team comprises former CIA, Navy SEALs, and Special Ops operatives that lead coordinated identification and extraction efforts. These operations are always in conjunction with law enforcement throughout the world. In the past three years, O.U.R. has rescued 641 victims and assisted in the arrest of over 275 traffickers around the world.
