  1. Add the water and sugar to a medium pan and bring to a boil over high heat. Remove from heat and allow cool to room temperature. Stir in citric acid until dissolved.
  2. Place sliced lemons slices, orange slices, and dried elderflower into a glass jar large enough to hold the liquid. Pour the simple syrup into the jar, close the lid tightly and gently shake to combine ingredients. Transfer the jar to the refrigerator for 24 hours to infuse the flavors.
  3. Pour the elderflower syrup into a mesh strainer over another container, pressing down on the dried flowers and fruit to remove as much of the liquid as possible. Store the elderflower syrup, sealed tightly, in the refrigerator for up to a month. The syrup will appear cloudy when it is ready to be discarded.
